Ever wondered who those adorable white, hippo-like creatures are that seem to pop up everywhere in Finland? Meet the Moomins – the much-loved troll family created by Finnish (but Swedish speaking) author Tove Jansson. I've loved the Moomins ever since I read the books as a child, so they have a special place in my heart, just like they do for a lot of other people who come into the shop. And there's a lot to love. Living carefree in Moominvalley with their friends, Moomins embody everything good about Scandinavian life: adventure, friendship, and finding joy in simple moments. This year is the 80th anniversary of the publication of the first Moomin book, The Moomins and the Great Flood, in 1945. Soon after that, Arabia Finland started producing Moomin designs, in partnership with Tove herself. But it was the introduction of the Moomin mugs in the '90s that really saw the collection - and Moomins - charm fans worldwide. I hope you love them as much as I do.

Beach Day Summer Special Edition 2025
If you need encouragement to enjoy the sunshine while you can, Beach Day shows the Moomins and their friends enjoying seaside adventures. Depicted in soft, pastel shades by Parvati Pillai, the artwork draws inspiration from the 1959 comic Fuddler's Courtship by Tove Jansson and her brother Lars.
Little My And Meadow mug
The Little My and Meadow mug features illustrations by Tove Slotte, based on the original drawings from Moomin and the Comet. Here we find the feisty Little My settling down to inspect an approaching comet while the other inhabitants of Moominvalley flee for their lives.
Ski Jumping Winter Special 2024
Taken from Tove Jansson's series The Dangerous Winter, this seasonal special features Moomintroll who, in an attempt to impress Snorkmaiden, takes part in the treacherous ski jumping competition - only to end up in a tree. Beautifully illustrated by Tove Slotte, based on the original drawings.
The Bath House pitcher
This Special Edition porcelain pitcher features the Moomin Bath House, a ramshackle structure built by Moominpappa himself. With its vibrant colours and generous proportions, it's a cheerful way to serve drinks or display fresh flowers.
Mini Mug 3rd Classics Set
And from the big to the tiny - these mini mugs reproduce the original classic Moomin mugs in miniature, and feauture Mymble, Too-Ticky, The Police Inspector, Little My, Sniff as well as Hattifatteners, all familiar friends to lovers of the Moominvalley adventures.
