Though certainly inspired by the wilderness and diversity found within the Nordic lands, Dottir Ceramic Design does express a satisfying contrast to the usual inclination in the Nordic creative field towards minimalism, in fact they promote the opposite, leading the way in a departure from the idea that less has to be more. The result of this creative approach is in no way stuffy or backward looking; Dottir takes traditional forms and patterns, breathing new life into them with fresh colours and new materials. The results leave us feeling comforted by the familiar yet re-invigorated by the creativity of the new approach.
