What began in 1881 as a glass factory in the small Finnish village of Iittala, has since grown into an internationally known brand that has played a decisive role in defining the Nordic way of life. Now legendary collaborations with design pioneers such as Alvar and Aino Aalto and Kaj Franck helped to shape their design philosophy, creating objects which by their progressive, functional, yet aesthetically pleasing nature have become timeless. With its roots firmly planted in Finland, Iittala continues to be guided by the Nordic values which have influenced nearly a century and a half of design that is balanced, progressive and essential.
