Kitchen gadgets we love (and use ourselves)
We love food, and we love cooking. And we stock a lot of beautiful Scandi kitchenware - but the true heroes are the functional, well-designed gadgets that get the job done. Here are 5 of our best, as judged (and used) by us…
Dreamfarm Supoon
A great bit of kitchen kit, this flexible silicon spoon measures, scrapes and spoons - and then sits flat on your worksurface when you put it down, so it doesn't make a mess. It's heatproof to 250ºC, and you can throw it in the dishwasher. We've got it in two sizes (see the mini version here), and different cheerful colours. Love it.
Rosti Mensura Kitchen Scale
Sturdy, space saving and attractive, these scales turn off automatically after use. And you can flip the lid to use as a bowl. No wonder they've won awards. Brilliant.
Zone Denmark garlic press
Zone Denmark do good gadgets, but our (current) favourite is this matte steel garlic press. Good looking and practical, just roll over garlic cloves and voila. Bonus points for being easy to clean afterwards, too.
Broste Limfjord chopping board
Gadget? Not really. But this mini-sized natural oak chopping board is perfect for cutting lemons or limes, so it makes our list of kitchen favourites. G&T, anyone?
Eva Solo magnetic trivet
When it comes to gadgets, we have to include Eva Solo. The only question is, what product? This squidgy soap dispenser and handy salad tongs were on the short-list, but pipped to the post by this magnetic trivet.
Cross it for pans or bowls, or take the legs apart for wider trays. The magnets stick to the bottom of a pan so you can move it about (and put it down) easily, and then stick together in the drawer when you're done. Bravo.
